The present porch was erected in 1893 in memory of the previous Rector, Edward Renn Hampden, who had overseen the restoration of the church. It replaced a larger older wooden-framed porch similar to the lych gate, and shelters the fine early 12th Century Norman arch with its chevron carvings, simple pillars and scalloped capitals.
